The role
Aged Care Checker is an independent directory of aged care facilities, nursing homes and retirement homes across Australia. Everything we publish is built from official sources: Star Ratings data, quarterly staffing and quality figures, fee schedules and Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission reports. Your job is to make that material readable for someone choosing a home for a parent at 11pm on a weeknight.
You'll research and write guides on choosing and paying for care, write and update profiles of individual facilities and city guides, and help keep our national statistics report current as each quarter's data lands. Every figure you write carries a named source and a date.
What we're looking for
- Clear, plain-English writing. You can explain a means-tested care fee to someone who has never heard the term.
- Comfort with data. You can read a government spreadsheet or PDF, find the right number and know what it means.
- Care about accuracy. You check figures against the source and say so when sources disagree.
- Some knowledge of Australian aged care, health, finance or government reporting is a strong advantage, but not essential if you learn fast.
- Based in Australia, with the right to work here.
What we offer
- Fully remote, flexible hours, paid per piece or per day depending on what suits you.
- A byline on everything you write, on a site that is growing quickly.
- Work that helps real families make one of the hardest decisions they'll face.
How to apply
Use the form below. Applications made through our own website will be highly regarded, and we read every one. Tell us briefly why aged care interests you, and give us links to two or three pieces you've written, or paste a sample if you don't have links.
